Baby, please don’t go.

Although this song was first recorded by Big Joe Williams (1935) I take my version from Lightnin Hopkins who recorded this song in 1947.  His style is a Texas blues style, which I find more sleazy and less raw than the Delta blues style.  Like many old blues songs the roots of ‘Baby, please don’t go’ – go way back into the obscurity of history and has since become a blues standard.

Recorded in my veranda. Too cold at present to record outdoors!
