Ragtime Blues

The 1920 saw the guitar taking influence from the ragtime piano players. To my mind Blind Blake was the master, but this style has taken many turns along the way.  In more modern times Stefan Grossman popularized this style amongst guitar players. Here are two of his rags, although I finish off with a slow section from a John Renbourn rag.

Sorry about the imperfect production and bum notes. I’m not Blind Blake or Stefan Grossman. I guess I should get some nice amp to smooth out the sound – but the old blues players never had that so what the hell.

The rags:  ‘See that girl sitting on the fence’ & ‘Dallas rag’ (Stefan Grossman). Last section of Faro’s rag (John Renbourn).
